Pesky Critters to Larder Loveliness

Any of numerous beetles, of the superfamily Curculionoidea, especially the snout beetle, that characteristically have a downward-curving snout and are destructive to nuts, fruits, stems, and roots.

Pesky little critters!  Just minding my own business and having a bit of a sort out in the larder when agggghhhh!  There they were, crawling and eating and doing goodness only knows what in my flour. So they had to go.  Out came the contents this morning – an early start – and out came the Ecover cleaner, the scourer.  What a mess!

I’m not entirely sure how I managed to find anything in here – let alone the bugs!  Actually now I think about it I don’t think I did find anything in here – a good clear out revealed six tins of chick peas – I mean honestly, six tins and about the same again in kidney beans!  That’s an awful lot of hummus and chilli!

Out it all came and out came Henry to suck up the pesky beasts – that’ll fix ’em!  Then I went through the contents with a fine tooth comb – quite gratified to know that the oldest thing I found had a sell by date of only August 2010 – I suppose it could have been worse and I am ever so slightly ashamed!
Still, onwards and upwards – a bit of reorganising with some lovely containers I got from Amazon and there you have it.

A beautifully organised, labelled, possibly slightly OCD larder and boy do I feel good about it (a little bit too good if the truth be known).  Clearly I have organisation issues!  And yes, before you ask, the spices are in alphabetical order – heeeellllllppppp!  What’s in your larder – no critters I trust?
